Dr. Bill's Commentaries

Diabetes Months, Weeks, and Daze

Every month is diabetes month, and every week is diabetes week, and every day is diabetes day, for those of us who live with diabetes.

But November is "American Diabetes Month" according to the American Diabetes Association.

And November is also "National Diabetes Month" according to the National Diabetes Education Program.

And it's "National Diabetes Awareness Month" according to the JDRF.

Or simply "Diabetes Awareness Month" according to WebMD.

If you want to celebrate "Diabetes Week", you're too late -- it was in June this year in the UK

And "Diabetes Week" was in July in Australia.

And Friday November 14 is "World Diabetes Day" according to the International Diabetes Federation.

Just a thought: it would be nice if the organizations that are involved with diabetes awareness could get their act together, choose one name, and one timeframe, to boost awareness of diabetes.
